so i get a text message last night, and it is a little tour of Mackenzie & Tyler's new apartment. And lo & behold, Mom made the wall :) THEN she posts it on social media, and my heart soars :) corny as it sounds...i love her encouragement and support of my art. It always seems to happen just when i need it most. Love you bug! thanks, as always ♥

Say it now - it's not that hard

Last night I watched a show on PBS about Robin Williams and it reminded me of a totally do-able New Years resolution idea ... Rather a wish. I wish for people to say wonderful things about each other BEFORE they are gone, not after. Not only in Robin's horrible instance, but in every instance, on any given day, for any random reason.

I remember one day i was in a store, i think it was Michael's, and a young girl who worked there said to me, "You have the coolest hair". WHAT? Most days i completely loathe what my hair looks like. I enjoy having it, I know i am blessed it exists. But it's 'cool'? NO WAY! I still smile when i think of how random and how nice that was to hear. Not my shoes...my hair? No way! *smile*

What if you told one person, in some way, how awesome you think they are or how sweet something they did was? Come on! Don't wait, don't just THINK it, say it out loud. Better yet, get the message to the person's eyes to see or their ears to hear! Now, while we are still here... cuz I am not entirely confident in the ability to read facebook status' or that twitter coverage in heaven exists. Truly we have no idea what an impact compliments, positive thoughts or seemingly small encouragements could make on a persons heart, or in the very least make them smile. Make their day?  It's my mission. Especially this new year.

So, happy 2015 *smile* May it be as awesome as you are. (and that, you are)

i can not describe my love for this man... epitome of cool and artsy... and the hippy i always wanted to be. I don't even consider myself  merely a lifelong superfan, because i feel more like he is my dream dad or uncle, or maybe more - the cool best friend that just 'gets me'.  I feel like i have always 'known' him.

i got a random envelope in the mail from a dear cousin. Absolutely no clue as to what it could be. I open it all casual-like and ....pause.... SQWEEEEEEEEE no way!! I ain't too proud to admit that i did a ridiculous mini happy dance and squealed like a little girl at a Backstreet Boys concert (ok, so that's dating myself...i digress)  I am a huge fan of  Ree Drummond, a.k.a. The Pioneer Woman! Long before she had a show on the Food Network, i was an avid follower of her blog, have her book, have her cookbooks, love her humor & writing style, loved her photography tips & subject matter, general fan of her life. I've felt we were kindred spirits... camera-toting, farm wife, barn mom, calf-shit-dodging, accidental country girl soul sisters. So what she wrote on the photo was... perfect. SO COOL! ok, so i gotta tone down the fan-girl crap. It was just so neat to get this, and let's not forget the thoughtfulness of my cousin Theresa for doing this for me!! HOME SWEET FARM

Today... the very day that my dear sweet Grandmother flew to heaven (and only days from when we lost Kenny's dad), is now the day we sign the papers on our farm. PAID IN FULL! I am so proud of my husband, i could cry. Oh, well whatta ya know, there goes the tears now.

Hard work, responsibility, and love of the land under his feet... pays off. It's always been "home", but we can call it 'ours', in every way today. We are the 3rd generation to live in the house, his grandparents built it, he grew up in it, his daughter had his childhood bedroom to call her own... and we will grow old there. I dreamed of these kind of roots as a child, and here i am. Here we are, providing those roots for our daughter.

I am blessed beyond words. All praise and glory be to God. And thank you dear Lord for this husband of mine, for our home, and for bringing me to this place of contentment and joy in my life.

Day 258

i NEED

ok ok, so this shouldn't count as an "art" entry. But if someone would be able to massage my hands (especially my right) i would be one happy artist. Is there someone out there that has a machine or apparatus to do any kind of hand pain relief? A cream? an ancient  native american healing dance? an old wives tale... anything. :)

Day 211 - Dreamin'

Remember that scene where Beast has Belle close her eyes and he leads her into a room and when she opens her eyes, BEHOLD.... he has gifted her a library. I always dreamed of that moment. A library would be amazing...i love love love walls of books and can picture a cushy chair and a lamp table near a fireplace on one end of the room. YESSSSS! don't wake me now!
But another big time dream of mine is to have Beast... i mean, building my own Backyard Studio Cottage facing the grove of trees, bird feeders all around.. I mean i dream of it all the time. It would have running water & an old fashioned white kitchen sink in a recycled white antique cabinet hiding a mini frig. It would have washed out yellow walls and shutters. An Adirondack chair or 2 in pale mossy green sitting on the front porch. Inside would be a work desk in front of a wall of book shelves and organizer bins with metal labels & blue mason jars with paint brushes and buttons, and fabric scraps. A place for my computer and space to spread out my projects, apart from the house. On one side would be a comfy cushy floral loveseat with yellow & baby blue pillows with a reading lamp on a cute little round table next to it. A TV mounted high so i could watch movies from wherever i sit inside, and hidden speakers to listen to James Taylor, Chris Tomlin, and John Denver. On the white trimmed windows, there would be pale yellow and powder blue toille curtains.  An old fashioned Light fixture from someones grandma's house hanging from the ceiling. A little fireplace heater for winter, and an inconspicuous a.c. for the summer. Daisy snuggled up on the loveseat watching me paint and waiting for me to settle into the spot next to her. Then after a day of creating... wandering into the house to cook some supper for my farmboy.... ahhhhhh! You get the idea.

Beast??? where are you?  :)

i gave my schpeel....

...even tho i don't HAVE a schpeel!! My daughter's old parochial grade school asked me to come talk because they were having an Art theme for their Education week. I will admit i was a bit nervous, even tho they are just little kids. Nervous mainly because i dont have a speech or much of a prepared Art Story to tell. But i walked them thru how i decided to become an artist, and such :) it was a lot of fun, and the cutest thing ever was the kids wanted me to sign the back of the little painting copies i gave them. awwww how cute was that? I wish i would have gotten a picture with the kids lined up in front of my little display :) Friday i even got to judge their art fair... WOW it was way more challenging than i thought. I wanted to be super fair, and i didn't write ANY negative remarks... just good stuff. I wanted them to be encouraged :) it was really fun.
